I found out rather quickly that there are a lot of little projects you can do, costing around $10, to clean up cables and generally give your home theater a more professional look. Here are some examples. |
||
Wire wrap (found at any car part store) saved my life. I was SO tired of staring at the rat's nest I had previously. Audio and video cables were mixed with power cables, which any HT person will tell you is a really bad thing. By using wire wrap I bundled the audio, video, and power cables separately, so that no contact was made. As you can see in the before and after picture, it also looks a LOT better! |

Wire molding (found at Home Depot) is another inexpensive, and yet very handy improvement. Instead of having cables hanging freely from mounted speaker, you can tuck them into the wire molding and attach them to the wall. They can even be painted to match your wall color. I lucked out, as the color of the wire molding was the same color as my wall. As you can see in the second picture, you can even use small cuts of wire molding to pick cables up off of the floor, especially in corners. |
